Since the launch of WORLDWIDE SALSA RADIO we have been
receiving several email complaints regarding the station’s
format.  I will like to address those complaints systematically
and expeditiously before we receive additional complaints or
repeated complains from other listeners.  We complied a list
of Frequently Asked Questions that addresses those
complaints.

1.  Worldwide Salsa Radio does not play much classics, why?
Worldwide Salsa Radio playlist is approximately 90% of new
independent Salsa Artists worldwide.  Any Salsa Artist from any
country that records a demo or promotional song is immediately
entered on the playlist and rotated regularly.  For example, if “El
Papi Chulo Orquesta” from China submits a new demo or
promotional song called “Mi Salsa Caliente De China” that new song
will be rotated every 40 songs on the station.  We want you to be
aware of who is Papi Chulo Orquesta from China.  Afterwards, nine
other new artists are played, perhaps, Alex Wilson, La Sonora De
Cuba, Deldongo from France etc, then a classic Salsa will follow on
the playlist.  If you desire more classic Salsa, you must connect to
our affiliated station HARD SALSA RADIO.

2. I purchased several CDs from my favorite classic and
legendary Salsa Artists from the 60’s and 70’s but when I hear
the song on Worldwide Salsa Radio or Hard Salsa Radio the
quality is better than the version I have on CD, Why?
Unfortunately, when you purchase a CD especially from a classic
artist like Tito Puente or Hector Lavoe, regardless if it is from a
major record label, you are taking a chance that it was remastered
well from the original.  Occasionally you may get a CD that sounds
flat, with reduced bass and very little terrible or you may even hear
some scratches on a CD that was taken from the vinyl record
because the master tape was lost.  Many record labels that are
reissuing classic Salsa adds too much noise reduction to remove the
scratches from the vinyl which sounds like small AM transistor radio.
When too much Noise Reduction is added, the song will sound very
flat.  Hard Salsa Radio and Worldwide Salsa Radio plays the original
song from the original vinyl as it was recorded in the 60’s and 70’s
with very little noise reduction.

3.
What’s with these radio sweepers?  They can be really
annoying!
Since we have two radio stations you will hear radio sweepers or
occasionally Station Ids so you can be aware which radio station you
are tuned into.  Some traditional or mainstream stations runs a
sweepers after every song or every 3 songs rotated.  That could be
a little annoying.  Both stations, Hard Salsa Radio and Worldwide
Salsa Radio runs sweepers after every 10 songs rotated.
Remember, the average Salsa song is about 5 minutes so you will
hear non-stop music for about 50 minutes to an hour without a
sweeper or station ID.

4.
Worldwide Salsa Radio is playing salsa romantica or Salsa
Monga.  Why?
Please remember, this station is called “Worldwide Salsa Radio” not
Worldwide Hard Salsa radio.  They’re many independent Salsa
artists worldwide that records Romantic Salsa that are not supported
by mainstream radio and even internet radio stations, in other words
they are not getting airplay period.  We do not want to neglect these
artists since they are also struggling the same predicament of a
Hard Salsa artist, no support from any radio stations.  Seldom you
will hear classic Salsa Romantica from Jerry Rivera, Gilberto Santa
Rosa, Luis Enrique etc.  Believe it or not, as owner of both radio
stations “Hard Salsa Radio” and Worldwide Salsa Radio, I tend to
listen to WORLDWIDE SALSA RADIO more than Hard Salsa Radio
because too much Hard Salsa gets me hyper.  I sometimes need a
little slow tempo in Salsa and listen to some romantic salsa.  Yes,
Andres Padua Mr. Hard Salsa has to chill out a little with some
romantic Salsa.  I know that’s a shocker to some despite all the
sweepers you heard on Hard Salsa Radio degrading Salsa
Romantica.  If you’re pure Salsa Dura and only love the Hard stuff,
then Hard Salsa Radio is your station.
