Andy Finally Meets The King of Latin Soul JOE BATAAN
|
Ever since the age of 5, I always wanted to meet
my favorite Latin Soul singers and watch them
perform. Because of my young age, it was
impossible to sneak in a club. Someone would
have noticed a 5-year old is running around loose
in a night club.
On May 2006 35 years later, I got a chance to meet
Joe Acosta who was the first singer I heard that
converted my music preference to Latin Soul.
Now on July 2006 I got a chance to meet The King
of Latin Soul, Joe Bataan at the Boriqua Festival at
Prospect Park in Brooklyn, New York. I was
honored and privileged to meet Mr. Bataan and to
be part of his VIP Guest List.
I created my own personal Joe Bataan T-Shirt at
home. On the front of the T-shirt was his classic
LP “Sweet Soul.” On the back of the shirt was a
photo of his single he recorded called “Latin Soul
Square Dance” Fania records never released on a
LP. Joe Bataan signed the back of shirt however
the photo didn’t come out. What a bummer!
Manny Reyes, one of my radio listeners and who
visits my website religiously took this photo shot.
I bumped into Manny at the park during the
concert.
