



Here is a complete history of the Latin Soul Show Radio from the
beginning since its launch in 1960's with Symphony Sid to its
revival in 2005 when Andres Padua relaunches the show on the
internet calling the radio station LATIN SOUL SHOW RADIO. Click

December 14th 1909 - Sidney Tornapol AKA Sidney Torin was born
lower East Side of New York City.
1940s - Sidney Torin becomes a Jazz Disc Jockey at WBNX in The Bronx.
His handle name was Sidney Torin. He was given the moniker
"Symphony Sid" from customers where he worked in a record shop called
"Symphony Records."
1960s - The Latin Soul Show launches on the radio station WEVD in
NYC. Disc Jockey Symphony Sid aired Latin Jazz, Boogaloo, Sweet Latin
Soul and Sweet R&B. Symphony Sid was considered a traitor by many
including former colleagues of the Jazz Music Industry.
January 25th 1968 - Andres Padua was born in South Bronx of New York
City.
1968 - Latin Soul Artist Joey Pastrana recorded the opening theme song
"Sid Walk" for The Latin Soul Show - Symphony Sid Show.
1970 - Joe Bataan recorded the opening theme song "Jumpin with Sid."
Theme song was only used a couple of months for the opening of the
Symphony Sid Show.
1972 - Andres Padua at the age of 5 discovered a promotional test press
acetate copy of Joe Acosta's single "I Need Her" owned by his aunt
Sonia. Andres fell in love with the Sweet Latin Soul tune "I Need Her." At
this point, Andres hated all Hard Salsa Music including Hector Lavoe,
Willie Colon, Celia Cruz, Eddie Palmieri and even Joe Acosta's Salsa
Music.
1972 - The Latin Soul Show-Symphony Sid Show went off the air. Fania
Records recorded and released the album "The Last Broadcast of
Symphony Sid" featuring Willie Colon, Ralfi Pagan, Santos Colon and a
host of others. Symphony's last show was broadcasted remotely at the
famous Cheetah club.
1982 - While playing with his Atari home video game, Andres was
listening to his 45rpm records and accidently placed the wrong side of
Joe Acosta's single on his photograph that played the Salsa song
"Bendita Illusion" the B side of "I Need Her." Andres was trying to beat his
high score and did not switch the song. It was the beginning of Andres
becoming fond of Salsa music.
September 14th, 1984 - Radio Disc Jockey Sidney Torin died.
1992 - 1999 Andres and his uncle Enrique decided to repurchase many
of his uncle's and aunt's records Andres destroyed during his younger
years. He and his uncle also attended many record conventions in New
York City in an effort to collect all the records he damaged. Hundreds of
records were purchased.
July 18th 2005 - Andres Padua from The Bronx of NYC launched The
Latin Soul Show Radio on Live365.com after 34 years of the show's
cancellation. The playlist included all of Andres collection including the
records he repurchased with his uncle between 1992 - 1999. The
playlist only included Sweet Latin Soul, Boogaloo and Chicano Latin
Rock.
August 1st 2005 - The Latin Soul Show Radio changed its format and
added Doo Wop Ballads, Lowrider R&B Slow Jams and limited Hard Salsa.
August 12th, 2005 - Latin Soul Show launched a single web page at
www.copyanydvdforfree.com/latinsoulshow. The Latin Soul Radio did not
own their own domain.
August 19th, 2005 - The Latin Soul Show assisted Yoko and Sam with
the promotion of Joe Bataan's concert at The Herbst Theatre in San
Fransisco, California. Andres Padua recorded a promotional ad for
Bataan's concert and aired it through September 2nd, the date of his
performance. Sam and Yoko distributed the first Latin Soul Show T-Shirts
and flyers at the concert.
August 29th, 2005 - The Latin Soul Show Radio launched their official
website WWW.THELATINSOULSHOW.COM
September 5th, 2005 - The Latin Soul show aired an iPOD Contest.
The first contest aired.
October 3rd, 2005 - The Latin Soul Show enhanced their format and
added classic salsa, descarga, cha cha cha, mambo and guaguanco to
their playlist.
November 1st 2005 - Andres Padua decided to close the doors of Latin
Soul Show Radio and go off the air due to low listeners. There were only
10 peaked listeners from its 4 months broadcast.
November 16th 2005 - Andres received an email from a stranger name
Nick Aguirre who later became the savior of The Latin Soul Show and
responsible for the renaming of the station to HARD SALSA RADIO.
December 16th 2005 - Andres received a package from Nick Aguirre with
over 500 songs including rare out print Hard Salsa, Sweet Latin Soul and
Boogaloo classic tunes.
January 29th, 2006 - Nick Aguirre "Salsa Dura Show" launched on The
Latin Soul Show Radio. The Show received rave feedbacks and reviews
from listeners. Latin Soul Show radio peaked over 80 listeners during
the broadcast and listeners demanded an encore and new future shows.
February 10th 2006 - Andres Padua decided to keep the Latin Soul
Show Radio on the air due to improvements on the new format and the
increase of listeners. At this time the station was peaking over 200
listeners.
May 5th 2006 - Andres Padua meets his childhood favorite musician and
pianist, Joe Acosta. Andres invites Acosta to a lunch meeting to discuss
the reissue of Acosta's album he recorded in 1971 on Ghetto Records
"The Power of Love," the first album Andres owned when he was the age
of 5.
May 10th, 2006 - Andres Padua launches Latin Soul Records in The
Bronx of New York City under the advisement of Joe Acosta.
June 15th, 2006 - Latin Soul Records releases their first CD, "Joe Acosta
- The Power of Love" remastered by DigiTech. The Power of Love was
out of print for 35 years and never reissued. Record Label "Latin Soul
Recordings" released their first Latin Soul CD titled "The Sweeter Side of
Latin Soul."
June 17th 2006 - Andres meets Eliot Rivera former lead singer for the
Lebron Brothers from the 1970s.
July 29th 2006 - Andres meets his favorite childhood Latin Soul vocalist,
The King of Latin Soul - Joe Bataan at the Boriqua Festival at Prospect
Park in Brooklyn, New York.
September 2nd 2006 - Andres meets Jerry Hernandez, the lead
trombonist for Orquesta Dee Jay at the Salsa Congress in New York City.
Jerry Hernandez is now the new leader for La Nueva Orquesta Dee Jay.
September 24th 2006 - Dustin Anthony aka (DJ Duste) from Bombay
India debuts on Nick Aguirre's Salsa Dura Show. DJ Duste was the first
guest DJ on Nick's Salsa Dura Show. The Latin Soul Show Radio peaked
over 300 listeners during the broadcast. This led to other guest DJs
featured on Nick Aguirre's Salsa Dura Show.
March 15th 2007 - DJ Duste remixes Joe Acosta's Sweet Latin Soul song
"I Need Her."
April 1st 2007 - Andres Padua and Dustin Anthony (DJ Duste) produces
the first compilation album on Latin Soul Records "Que Viva La Salsa
Dura - Originals and Remixes" double CD set.
November 3rd 2007 - At the 4th Annual Record Collectors festival in
NYC, Andres meets Dustin Anthony (DJ Duste) and many others
including Benny Vargas (Dax Pacem), DJ Tono La Conga and DJ
Cuartobate.
January 25th 2008 - On Andres 40th birthday he decided to change the
name of the radio station to HARD SALSA RADIO and redesigns and
relaunches a new website WWW.HARDSALSA.COM Latin Soul Show's
website was not closed.
February 2nd 2008 - Fernando Rivera (King Nando) dies. Hard Salsa
Radio goes off the air for a 3-day moment of silence in honor of King
Nando.
February 8th 2008 - Hard Salsa Radio launches their myspace page and
streams live on myspace.
February 10th 2008 - Hard Salsa Radio enhances their format by
including new international Salsa Artists on the playlist. DisLOCAdos
from Ukraine was the first international Salsa Artist to air on Hard Salsa
Radio followed by a host of others including Alex Wilson (UK), Rumba
Caliente (UK), Astrid La Holandesa (Holand), Deldongo (France) and
many others.
February 27th 2008 - Local and National Salsa bands began to submit
their music to Hard Salsa Radio and also rotated regularly on Hard Salsa
Radio including Melina Almodovar, La Orquesta Remembranza, Siglo XXI
and many others.
March 19th 2008 - Nick Aguirre's Salsa Dura Show was now being
PODcasted.
May 8th 2008 - Andres hosted the return of Jerry Hernandez Y La Nueva
Orquesta Dee Jay at Gonzalez Y Gonzalez in NYC.
November 1st 2008 - At the 5th annual record collectors festival in NYC,
Andres Padua finally meets the savior of The Latin Soul Show Radio and
after working with him for approximately 5 years, NICK AGUIRRE. Andres
also meets Tony Rojas (TNT Band), Los Hermanos Colon and Sol.
December 17th 2008 - DJ Carmen Salsera4Ever launches her radio
show La Salsa Vive on Hard Salsa Radio.
January 25th 2009 - Andres 41st birthday released the 2nd compilation
album SALSA DURA MUNIDAL - WORLDWIDE HARD SALSA featuring
the first international Hard Salsa artists that were aired on HARD SALSA
RADIO in 2008.
January 30th 2009 - Hard Salsa Radio encores the show Latin Jazz and
Salsa with host DJ Speedy Gonzalez
February 15th 2009 - The God Father of Boogaloo Joe Cuba dies at 78.
February 25th 2009 - Andres Padua launches Worldwide Salsa Radio to
support independent Romantic Salsa Artist.
March 25th 2009 - Salsa Legend and Timbalero Manny Oquendo dies at
78.
May 10th 2009 - Viejoteca Show with DJ Gury Gury reached 50,000
PODCASTERS.
September 11th 2009 - Andres Padua hosts Mambo Legends Orchestra
at club SOBs in New York City.
November 14th 2009 - Andres Padua surprises DJ Speedy Gonzalez with
a surprise visit at WMNF 88.5 FM Tampa Florida.
December 25th 2009 - Andres Padua launches The Hard Salsa TV Show
on MNN4 and BronxNET television.
January 3rd, 2009 - Hard Salsa TV Show is PODCASTED on iTUNES.
