It is no surprise to anyone listening to
Hard Salsa Radio since we were known
as The Latin Soul Show Radio in 2005
has an idea who is Nick Aguirre.  He is
known as the savior of The Latin Soul
Show Radio that later became HARD
SALSA RADIO due to his Salsa Dura
Show that launched on The Latin Soul
Show Radio on January 29th 2006.  It
was on November 1st 2005 founder of
Latin Soul Show Radio Andres Padua
was about the shut the doors and
close down the internet station with
only 10 measly listeners.
November 30th 2005 was the target date for Padua to pull the plug on Latin
Soul Show Radio until the day he would never forget when he received an email
from a stranger in California.  That stranger was no other than Nick Aguirre who
was known as the savior of Latin Soul Show Radio.  On January 29th 2006 Latin
Soul Show Radio launched his first show "Nick Aguirre Salsa Dura Show" that
has marked the history pages of Latin Show Radio.  Ultimately, his show has
restructured and reformatted the internet radio station calling it HARD SALSA
RADIO in 2008.  After working with Nick Aguirre for approximately 5 years and
communicating via emails and on the telephone, Andres and Nick finally meet in
person on November 1st 2008 during the 5th Annual Record Collectors Festival
in New York City.

During the festival we had the privilege of meeting many people including Tony
Rojas (TNT Band), Los Hermanos Colon and Sol.  November 1st 2008 will mark
another day for Andres Padua’s memoirs.

For those of you that may have forgotten a little Salsa Dura history, Tony Rojas
was one the lead vocalist for the TNT Band also known as The TNT Boys in the
early 1960’s.  TNT Band recorded for Cotique Records.  Rojas sang most of
the Spanish tunes including the hit single “Sabre Olividar.”  Tito Ramos sang
most of the English sweet latin soul tunes and English boogaloo tunes including
the hit “The Meditation.”  After the break-up with Johnny Colon’s Orquesta,
Ramos and Rojas decide to begin their own band called TNT Boys that later
became TNT Band.

In 2008, Los Hermanos Colon from the Bronx also known as Los Hijos De La
Playa (The Sons of the Beach) because of their regular appearance in Orchard
Beach remade the song “Sabre Olvidar” that was featured on Sol’s album “Si
Te Vas.”  Click below on the players to taste and reminisce the original version
in 1969 of “Sabre Olvidar” by TNT Band and the remake by Los Hermanos
Colon in 2008.
